There is so much Magic in the Oridnary.....
Hello 28 year old self. Your living in the most fantastic city in the world. Your doing what you love to do and you have amazing friends and family in your life. I understand now when Carrie Bradshaw said this “Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.”
I think the older I get the more I have started to come into my own. If only I knew now what I had known then. I had this false sense of self in my early 20's. But the older I get the more I start to understand my body, people and life in general. I laugh now when these early 20 somethings at work ask me "Where in the City do you go out?" I reply with always the same answer.....well I don't really go out as much anymore....Not really into the Club scene anymore. I like a good bar with great music and a diverse crowd. I think I enjoy dinner parties with friends more.....and an awesome concert...with that's just a recipe for a great night!
So I guess I can't say that I am homebody but I do enjoy my alone time. Now that's something that I think that comes with age. Being surrounded by millions of people every day daily...welll sometimes a girl just needs to take it back to her boudoir and decompress. These days I feel like I need to take a timeout from dating or even thinking about dating. I feel like I am in that selfish stage of my life right now.....Suddenly all the pieces are starting to fall together and I am trying so gracefully to make all the right moves. But I can always take a moment to appreciate an handsome well dressed man.....
Now that I am working on the Upper West Side I have been flooded with memories of my early 20's.
It's funny I used to live on Central Park West on the Upper West Side after graduating college.....and I just thought the people on the Upper West Side were sooooo boring darling.....It's funny I always felt like my best friend Cooper and I stuck out in our neighborhood not only because our looks were total opposites but because I am sure people were like who are these two kids living in our building?!?!?...They probably could see that..well....we were living in the moment....So at night we would get ready and leave and go downtown in our latest outfits (Cooper would even sew an outfit 15mins before we would leave and believe me when I say this but she always looked fly! Love her style! Have to get her on this blog. Anyway, we went out to all the hot spots in the city....You name the club....we probably were there in VIP somewhere dancing up a storm and leaving the night wrapped in our fur coats and return to our building as our neighbors would be walking their dogs in the morning. Good times. But there even better times to come....Miss you Cooper.
SO you get that I enjoy a good party but I am no longer the party girl. Also I think my old views of the Upper West Side may be changing because although it's not really known for its nightlife in the city.....I see a lot of hot men everyday as I walk to and from work. Therefore, its time to find new ways to meeting new people with the same interests. This past weekend I went to a wine tasting that my friend Lara has been raving about and to my surprise there were a few good looking men circulating in the crowd. Not only was I able to drink for free but I had a wonderful time meeting new people. To all the SINGLE LADIES.....put on your long maxi dress, a cute wedge, a great cocktail ring and find a wine tasting event in your area. You or your friend WILL MEET SOMEONE!
Hopefully through my little blog.....you can maybe learn a few things from my friends and I. If not that...then hopefully a good laugh. Can't wait to share my journey with you guys! Cheers!

Future Fashion Icon....Meet Harper Seven Beckham! (Love the name)
Suri Who? My style icon has finally given birth to a GIRL! And what a lucky little girl she is. Not only is Victoria Beckham the most fashionable female in the WORLD. She is also blessed..... I mean BLESSED to wake up beside David Beckham every morning!!! I mean really....I think majority of women out there would agree with me when I say that if one were married to David you would give as many children as he wants. But now that you finally have your girl Victoria I would say you were pretty much over the pregnancy look.
Harper will have the best wardrobe any female child could have ever. Fashion is in her blood honey. But please don't let me discredit the Beckham Boys, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz. Little Romeo is David 2.0 in the making. He is always dressing like his father. Basically what I am saying is.....David and Victoria set trends. This child's closet is going to be MAJOR and the clothes and jewelry that she receives from Posh....well that's Bananas!

My Weekend in the East Village....Wine, Cheesecake and Flea/Street Markets!
First let me thank my gracious host Sloan for letting me stay with him this weekend. It's just what this girl needed. After a long hard week at work....Lara, Sloan and I had a wonderful night out listening to Jazz and prior to drinks Sloan and I went to his favorite local restaurant Yaffa Cafe which btw I has the most amazing cheesecake!! The following morning the fashion gods were looking down on me because as soon as I stepped out onto the fire escape and looked onto the street directly in-front of me was the weekend flea market right outside his doorstep!!!!
Take a look at some of the hidden treasures that my friend Lara and I stumbled upon! Thanks again Lara for being my model for the day! In the flea market I found wonderful jewelry and great finds for an apartment. Everyone was super friendly...some to friendly lol and just all around wonderful afternoon. This particular flea market is located on Ave A and E.11th st. After the flea market we walked through the East Village to Union Square where we came upon a street festival. These Street Festivals are always a wonderful surprise to find because not only do they wonderful jewelry and accessories but also pretty awesome food. From there our wonderful afternoon continued with FREE wine tasting. What a great way to meet new people! Single ladies.....it's a good spot. ;)

Summer 2011 NEW YORK CITY
Growing up in the South one could say I was very limited in the inspiration department when it came to fashion on the streets of North Carolina. I am pretty sure no one has ever thought Charlotte, NC to be known as a fashionable city. As a child I use to sit on my patio with my notebook and colored pencils and sketch because I was so inspired by Tom Fords Gucci ads back in the mid-late1990's. I would tell my mother and grandmother that I would sketch them a dress and surprisingly they usually loved what I created. They both saw a spark within me and eye for putting things together that I had yet to realize that I had. I was blessed by the universe because my mom somehow managed to receive stacks of Vogue's from a friend and she would give them to me. Forget Seventeen Magazine, hell I had discovered British Vogue and American Vogue and I was only TWELVE!!! I would sit in my room for hours listening to music ( just in case you wondering...The Verve, Sneaker Pimps, Trainspotting Soundtrack) and ripping out the pages and using my wall as my canvas.
I imagined that my room reflected what it would look like inside the offices of British Vogue. My parents must have thought I was nuts. My room was covered with all the major models of the 90's, Calvin Klein ads, and some of my favorite fashion icons...Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Moss, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and an oldie but a goodie Bianca Jagger. I have always gravitated to the 70's Boho Chic look but in contrast I love a good minimalist look also. When the two distinct looks are merged and done properly that's when I get excited.
Each picture and designer contributed to who I am today. After graduating with a degree in Communications from Fordham University I decided to pursue a career in styling. I love creating and also displaying the wonderful art of fashion. Currently I manage a boutique on the Upper West Side. Think downtown meets uptown chic. I wardrobe the twenty-something and thirty-something women who need an outfit for a hot-date out on the city and in New York City every BLOCK can turn into a fashion show. So I help these ladies stay on the A game! BTW I will be posting clothes from my store on here shortly and also providing a link if you would like to purchase.
I have been lucky enough to travel all over the world and see Fashion being translated through various cultures...via London, Dublin, Paris and Barcelona. I thought London really lived up to its expectations. I have always been fascinated by the mod look from the swinging 60's and how that has been modified over each decade. I was so overwhelmed by the beauty of Paris that I could hardly focus on the people. Just the city itself was breathtaking. In Dublin I was more impressed by the men and their edgy street-style then the tired looks that I saw from some of the females there. It was almost as if they were stuck in like a really bad time warp...... Where fashion didn't exist. But I am sure there are some amazing Fashionista's in Ireland. Prove me right girls! This past Spring my best friend and I went to Barcelona. Another beautiful city.....I was really impressed how the women were featuring color and patterns in their wardrobe. Also they have wonderful and affordable street markets.
NEW YORK CITY..... For the Summer of 2011 I am going to kick of my blog by focusing on three very different neighborhoods within the City and surrounding areas. I will be working on the...The Upper West Side, hanging out on The Lower East Side and of course I have to feature my neighborhood.... Hoboken!
Thus Pastel Dusk....this blog is dedicated to the lady who I truly believe embodies style to tenth degree and that's my grandmother, Ella Jane.
